Pottstown, Pa. 9:00 PM
In a UNANIMOUS decision the Pottstown School Board has voted to transfer their vacant property at 423 Chestnut St. to Mosaic Community Land Trust, (a project of Preservation Pottstown), for the benefit of the citizens of Pottstown for their use as Pottstown’s FIRST – OFFICAL COMMUNITY GARDENS.
Taking a bit longer than expected, we are confident that the extra time was well spent in forging an agreement that will assure the people of Pottstown a sustainable community garden with the promise of healthy foods, education, and the opportunity to develop and exercise responsible, ecological practices which preserve, protect, and enhance the land’s natural and productive attributes.
Kudos to the School Board, Mr. Reed Lindley and Stephen Kalis, Solicitor, for your insight and your generous gift to our community. A very special thanks goes out to the most excellent Real Estate Attorney, Andrew Monastra, who quietly and patiently donated his time and talents to see this agreement to fruition.
A belated thanks goes out to Jason Bobst and the Borough employees who took the initiative, last year, to remove the obsolete play equipment from 423, making ready for the much anticipated gardens….we noticed !!
And last but not least… to Judy Memberg of Genesis Housing for her belief in us and her unwavering support of the Washington St. Neighborhood. We can’t tell you how much strength of conviction we have drawn from your steadfast demeanor…thanks Judy.
On behalf of the MOSAIC Community Land Trust Board of Trustees,
OUR HEARTFELT GRATITUDE TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.
