Community Field Day and Children’s Book Drive

field day

Pottstown’s Community Field Day will be held Saturday, August 27th from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM  at the Chestnut Street Park at Washington & Chestnut Streets in Pottstown (rain date is Sunday August 28th from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM).

The Field Day is a day for families to spend time together learning more about low-cost, outdoor and indoor activities available in our area. There will be games, activities, and information about many Pottstown organizations, so plan to make field day part of your weekend!

Mosaic is also collecting used books for children and teens for a book giveaway event to be held at the Pottstown FARM market in mid-September.

If you have books you would like to donate, please drop them off at the Mosaic table at the Community Field Day event this Saturday or the children’s activity table at the FARM market, Thursday evenings anytime between 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The table is located at the Ellis Building (next to the Army Navy Surplus Store on High Street.)

Thank you for helping us build a better community!

Join us this Saturday July 18th for the next Pottstown Bicentennial event!

The next Pottstown Bicentennial event will be this Saturday, July 18th at Riverfront Park.  MOSAIC Community Land Trust is excited to join the community to celebrate this historic milestone.

Please stop by and visit us at our table from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm at Riverfront Park!  Hope to see you there!

MOSAIC Participating At TWO Events This Weekend, May 2nd And 3rd

  • A collaborative activity table between Mosaic, ArtFusion and S.T.R.I.V.E. will be set up from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM this Saturday, May 2 and again on Sunday, May 3 from 11:00AM – 3:00 PM at the PA Native American Powwow happening at Memorial Park.

  • We have planned to set up a table at the annual Community Fun Day Health Fair taking place this Saturday, May 2 from 11:00AM – 5:00 PM in the Olivet’s Boys and Girls Club/Rickett’s Center parking lot.  It is a great time to inform families about the community garden and help children with a garden activity.

MOSAIC Community Land Trust Celebrates Young Children

A community celebration for families with young children was held on Saturday, April 18, at Pottstown High School from 1-3 pm. MOSAIC joined over 40 community agencies to share our plans and resources with young children and their families, and provided fun family activities. More than 1500 people attended. It was a great day to let the community know about MOSAIC CLT!

We talked with community residents about our homeownership and revitalization strategies, and invited the children to create their own Mosaics with dried beans and glue! We had fun talking about our gardens, growing your own beans, and learning about health and nutrition with MOSAIC CLT!

PEAK, Pottstown’s school readiness initiative and Pottstown Memorial Medical Hospital for this community outreach sponsored the event.

MOSAIC CLT invites you to join us as we make owning a home a reality for your neighbors, and as we strengthen our neighborhoods. We hope to see you and your young gardeners at our 423 or 615 Chestnut Street gardens this spring, summer and fall! Come grow with us!

MOSAIC Community Garden News‏

Good morning,

Just a quick note about the great things happening in and around the garden this month!

MOSAIC’s Fall Fest – Saturday, October 24, 2014:

Mosaic is hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 12 – 4 PM to celebrate the end of our third growing season!

The first half of Fall Fest provides an opportunity for everyone to come out, chat with fellow gardeners, pick the final harvest, clean out garden plots and  clean up common areas in the gardens.  This is also the time when the sheds will be cleaned up, hoses drained and put away at both garden locations.  Does this sound like all work and no play?  Says who?!…The second half of our event will be filled with music, face painting, healthier soups and treats along with warm apple cider!  Come on out with helping hands to clean up, then celebrate!  Be sure to bring the entire family!  We have accomplished great things in just 3 short seasons…let’s all take a moment to give thanks and to have some fun!

Please reply to this email if you would like to donate baked goods or cider being served during the event or call (484) 300-2410 if you would like to help in organizing the activities.

Remember…Healthy Family Nights is in Full Swing!

Sponsored by Genesis Housing Corporation and in collaboration with ArtFusion and Olivet’s Boys and Girls Club, our Healthy Family Nights is happening at the Olivet’s every Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 6 PM.

This interactive nutrition workshop free for the entire family!  Adults and children will learn how to make better food choices and how to prepare better meals the entire family will enjoy.  Our Healthy Family Nights also offers each family to create their own food journal (facilitated by ArtFusion) to keep recipes and other food or fitness related artwork!  After each session, everyone is invited to work out in the gym at the Olivet’s with a personal trainer!  Don’t miss out on this great learning opportunity!  It’s not too late to register! Contact the Olivet’s at 484-945-1020.

We look forward to seeing you on at Fall Fest and during our Healthy Family Nights!
