A presentation on how to attract butterflies will be given by local butterfly expert Ron Richael, an 23 year urban butterfly garden veteran from Pottstown. Ron recently took 1st place in the Bees & Butterflies category in our gardening contest last month. The presentation will be held at Agway in Pughtown, located on Route 100 just south of Route 23 (5 miles south of Pottstown) at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 13th.
He will describe the top 11 nectar plants that attract butterflies in the Pennsylvania area as well as the host plants that butterflies need to complete their life cycle. Also he will explain how to attract butterflies with fruit. Hopefully, Ron will bring along a cage with live butterflies from his backyard.
