Pottstown, PA., January 4— Mosaic Community Land Trust has elevated Daniel Price, the current Community Garden Manager, to the position of Executive Director effective January 1, 2021.  In recent years, Mosaic’s work in community development, housing, community arts and gardening has expanded, creating the need to reestablish the position of Executive Director.

Daniel joined Mosaic Community Land Trust as Gardens Manager in April 2017.   In this role, he initially oversaw four community gardens with 86 plots that, on average, yielded 5,500-6,000 pounds annually.  These garden plots are rented by residents and organizations within the community and under Daniel’s care, garden plot rental reached 98% capacity.  Additionally, Daniel managed educational and community-based programs during this time.  During Daniel’s tenure as Garden Manager, three of the four gardens were recognized as “Gardens of Distinction” by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

Since 2017, Daniel has played an integral role in the “Grow for it” Home Garden Contest alongside Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation and Building a Better Boyertown.  This contest led to the creation of the Annual Garden Tour and Summer Solstice Gathering.  “Really, Daniel is so integral to the contest. We couldn’t make this complicated event happen without him. There is a large committee, but Daniel is the boots on the ground, the guy out there running around, talking to people, hanging up posters, recruiting gardeners, getting donations. His creativity has helped us grow the contest into a much more exciting event each year”, says Tracy Purdy, President of Mosaic Community Land Trust Board of Directors and a member of the Home Garden Contest and Garden Tour Committee.  Through Daniel’s work, Mosaic has also been a valuable partner to Pottstown Borough and School District in their Bike Rodeo by supplying children in the community with close to 100 donated bicycles.

A lifelong Pottstown resident, Daniel is a 2000 graduate of Pottsgrove High School and 2004 graduate of Kutztown University.   Prior to working with Mosaic, Daniel worked in the Pennsylvania State Senate and was Program Manager for the West Chester Business Improvement District.  He is a current member of the Kutztown University Alumni Council and board member on the Montgomery County Conservation District.  He is a 2019 Walking College Fellow for America Walks.

As Executive Director, Daniel will continue to work closely with Mosaic staff, board, volunteers and community members to pursue the mission of the organization*.   Daniel will also be charged to increase Mosaic membership, expand the Annual Garden Tour and strengthen food collaborative partnerships in the Pottstown region to improve food security during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am honored and grateful to the Mosaic board and Pottstown community for this incredible opportunity.  I am looking forward to continuing our amazing progress and forging even more paths to success”.
